Position Summary
The Purchasing and Contract Services department at the University at Buffalo (UB) seeks a Procurement Analyst to provide analytical and technical support to the Strategic Buying team, with a primary focus on scientific equipment, supplies, and related services. This role supports the effective execution and ongoing management of established category strategies by ensuring the accuracy, integrity, and reliability of procurement data, supplier catalogs, and purchasing activity within the UB e-Procurement system and supporting SUNY systems.
The successful candidate will demonstrate strong analytical and technical aptitude, attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple priorities while working collaboratively with Strategic Buyers and internal partners to support compliant, consistent and efficient procurement operations in accordance with all applicable Federal, State, Research Foundation (RF), SUNY, and University policies and regulations.
The Procurement Analyst will contribute to Strategic Buying operations by performing the following responsibilities:
Support the execution and ongoing management of strategic buying initiatives through data gathering and analysis, documentation support, and tracking of contracts, pricing, and supplier information.
Monitor purchasing activity within the Jaggaer ShopBlue e-procurement system to identify data discrepancies, compliance issues, and transactional anomalies, escalating complex issues to appropriate teams as needed.
Administer and maintain supplier catalogs within Jaggaer ShopBlue, including catalog setup, updates, and ongoing maintenance to ensure pricing, product information, and compliance attributes are accurate and current.
Utilize Jaggaer ShopBlue to review and process requisitions and purchase transactions, ensuring accuracy, completeness, and compliance with applicable policies.
Support contract administration activities, including documentation tracking, reporting, and coordination with Strategic Buyers and the Strategic Sourcing team.
Prepare reports, analyses, summaries, and professional communications using Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint to support internal decision-making and operational reporting.
Serve as an internal resource for inquiries related to purchasing activity, contract usage, supplier performance, and transactional status, escalating issues as appropriate.
Research and identify potential suppliers and support internal processes related to supplier engagement and onboarding.

Minimum Qualifications
Bachelors degree or equivalent combination of education with 1 year of experience
Experience with Microsoft Office products
Basic knowledge of e-Procurement systems
Strong written and oral communications
Preferred Qualifications
Bachelors degree
Experience using Jaggaer software
Three (3) or more years experience working in public procurement
Physical Demands
Salary Range $51,261 - $53,000
