Requirements: Responsible for all new design, maintenance and integrity of the electrical system in a specific geographical area of the CEC service territory. Ability to work independently and across all departments to ensure efficient and timely job progression and completion. This position could be based at either our Bend or Redmond locations.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Proficient in transmission and distribution design principles and practices
Demonstrates consistent comprehensive knowledge of CEC construction specifications, NESC code and customer service policy
Apply CEC standards and construction methods to design electrical distribution system improvements, upgrades, modifications and new power line extensions
Work independently to generate cost estimates and stake both overhead and underground facilities before construction
Create staking sheets and have familiarity with ESRI products
Analyze member problems and recommend appropriate corrective action to ensure cost-effective solutions as directed by the Supervisor of Engineering Services
Direct and aid other CEC departments to ensure efficient and timely job progression and completion
Be a mentor for newer engineers; provide guidance and oversight to ensure CEC values
Work with the Chief Engineer on system modeling, protection studies, voltage regulation analysis and other special projects
Support a culture of safety and excellence through active involvement and promote a sense of shared responsibility for safety
Assist the Operations department with Standby Supervisor duties
QUALIFICATIONS:
B.S. Engineering degree or comparable experience, training or certification program
Ten or more years performing as a Distribution Engineer with a professional and consistent exemplary work record in the power industry
Ability to build and maintain strong working relations and communicate effectively
Must be able to hold and retain a valid State of Oregon Driver’s License
Working knowledge of computers and Microsoft Office Suite

Central Electric obtains this supply through Portland, Oregon based PNGC Power, a generation and transmission cooperative owned by 14 Northwest electric distribution cooperative utilities, including CEC. CEC provides electric service to portions of Deschutes, Crook, Jefferson, Grant, Linn, Wasco and Lake counties, in central and eastern Oregon.
