Summary of Essential Duties:
Supervises and manages all operational, technical, and personnel activities associated with the Supply Chain Management Department including the Central Issues, Receiving, Surgical Services, Medical Gas Distribution & AGVS sections.
Ensures that all department products and services are provided in a cost-effective manner that is in accordance with hospital needs and expectations.
Supervises all assigned areas in an effective and efficient manner that complies with budgetary guidelines and enhances service levels through appropriate development of policies and procedures, monitoring and control of expense budgets, monitoring of supply fill rates and backorders and effective resolution of interdepartmental and staff issues.
Maintains a skilled, professional and motivated staff through appropriate selection, orientation, scheduling, training, and communication of expectations.
Maintains accurate and timely records pertaining to all assigned areas including staffing issues, productivity measures, budgetary performance, in-service education programs, service levels, problem resolution and other business-related data.
Interacts frequently with physicians, nurses, department managers, supervisors and other staff regarding special supply and sterilization requests, supply problems and other related needs and opportunities. Interacts and communicates with the vendor community for supply, linen and equipment needs, availability problems and other related issues as needed.
Monitors condition of department's physical facilities and takes appropriate action to ensure that assigned areas are maintained in a clean and well-organized manner at all times. Monitors performance of department equipment, identifies malfunctions and other service needs or problems. Notifies appropriate staff to render preventative maintenance and repair service as needed.
On rotational basis provides weekend, after-hours and holiday on-call coverage for all department sections, appropriately responding to and resolving employee, supply, linen, sterile processing, receiving, AGV and other customer problems and needs.
Qualifications
Educational:
High School Diploma or GED required
Assoc. Degree/College Diploma in Business or related field preferred
Experience:
3 years of Supply Chain experience including extensive knowledge of medical/surgical supplies and sterilization principles and practices required
2 years of experience at a supervisory level preferred
