Provides consistent support to the Director of Athletics, staff and coaches in the service of student-athletes. The Athletics Assistant will gain experience in multiple aspects of the athletics department and play an integral role in the success of our teams.
Interscholastic competition at The Lovett School is available from grades 6–12, and over 80 percent of Lovett’s students compete in one or more of the 69 teams fielded in 16 sports. The school is proud of its rich history of success. Lovett’s varsity teams have won more than 100 state championships, and since 1981, 70 Lovett athletes have been named High School All Americans in 10 sports. All of these accomplishments have yielded a tremendous amount of “Riverbank Pride.”
Reports To: Director of Athletics
Employment Schedule: 10-month schedule, with an additional 2 weeks required before the start of the school year and 2 weeks following the end of the school year.
Employment Status: Non-Exempt
Athletics Operations: 30%
Maintains calendars for facility use, athletic teams, and the Athletic Director.
Orders supplies for athletic and PE department.
Supports team travel arrangements.
Put senior banners up each athletic season outdoors.
Coach at least one season of an interscholastic sport.
Game Management: 30%
Ability to work an average of 2-3 athletics events per week during the out of coaching season (typically evenings or weekends).
Provides support for various athletic events in support of our athletic teams, coaching staff, support staff and students.
Assists in the setup and breakdown of athletic events.
Coaching experience preferred.
Administrative Support: 40%
Answers office phones and returns correspondence promptly.
Plan and coordinate athletic department events and festivities.
Communicates effectively with Administrative Team, Coaches, and Team Parents on a regular basis.
Prepares correspondence in various forms, including meeting minutes, bulletins, and internal and external communications.
Maintains distributions lists, rosters, bulletins, work orders and other information in the school database.
Schedules meetings and manages the calendar of the Athletic Director.
Performs other clerical or administrative duties as assigned to you in support of the athletic department.
Code financial transactions and run financial reports.
Attend logistics meeting with other campus facility departments.
Distribute and organize student athlete certificates and awards.
Position Requirements:
Bachelor’s Degree and at least 3 years working in a school or sports related administrative capacity preferred; high school diploma and at least 3 years related experience required.
Proficient in Word, Excel, and Powerpoint.
Understands the importance of confidentiality and discretion.
Strong attention to detail and follow through required.
Ability to think ahead and multi-task.
Ability to coach at least one season preferably two seasons.
Ability to work quickly and accurately.
Possess excellent listening and writing skills.
Ability to pick up 50lbs.
Ability to work outside of regular business hours for job related functions
Preferred Skills:
Coaching experience.
Familiarity and knowledge of sports, wellness and fitness within an education based sports program.
