What Health System Pharmacy contributes to Cardinal Health
Pharmacy Operations is responsible for the safe, efficient and effective coordination of Cardinal Health's pharmacy operations that service acute care hospitals, hospital retail customers, ambulatory care and alternate site facilities, oncology and cardiology practices as well as retail customers.
Health System Pharmacy is responsible for providing customized pharmacy program solutions that reduce costs and improve patient care quality for hospitals, health systems and other integrated healthcare providers may also consult with and advise healthcare team on prescribed medications, supplies and related processes.
Job Summary
The Pharmacy purchasing technician is responsible for purchasing the necessary drugs and materials for the Pharmacy Department. Is responsible for procurement, receiving and inventory control of pharmaceuticals; for processing purchase orders and invoices; for maintaining contract files and for compliance with contracts, and for responses to pharmaceutical recalls.
Cardinal Health manages the pharmacy at Ft Sanders Regional Medical Center in Knoxville, TN and we are currently recruiting for a full-time purchasing pharmacy technician.
Schedule: Monday through Friday from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm
Responsibilities
Leads or assists in ordering, receiving, unpacking, and storing medications and supplies in appropriate locations.
Enters medication orders into pharmacy computer system accurately.
Enters charges and credits for patient medications accurately and timely.
Generates reports, pick lists, and labels as required.
Answers the telephone, clearly identifying self and department; directs calls to appropriate personnel.
Maintains logs, records, and other required documentation accurately; files documentation in appropriate locations.
Purchase drugs and supplies in accordance with Bids and Cardinal Health best demonstrated practices.
Assures that all orders received are properly checked-in and put away.
Attends pharmacy staff meetings including Cardinal Health webcasts and reads departmental email/communications daily.
Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
High school degree or equivalent preferred.
State of Tennessee Pharmacy Technician license required.
National PTCB certification required.
Hospital pharmacy experience strongly preferred.
Previous buyer experience preferred.
Knowledge of 340B program preferred.
May required vendor credentialing.
