Import/Export Agent - International (Job Number: 2300837 )

Position Summary:

The Import/Export Agent - International position supports all aspects of North American cross border operations to include the safe, efficient, and cost-effective transportation of goods (via shipping lines air and ground freight) keeping in consideration the type of goods and customer delivery requirements. Understand the documents, including bonds, while coordinating with custom brokers. Key responsibilities include monitoring all operational activity to guarantee successful performance of the operations and customer service (order entry and load planning).

Schedule: Monday - Friday 1130am - 9pm (Hybrid Schedule - Tuesdays/Wednesday in Office)

Major Responsibilities:

• Handle start to finish processing of shipments moving between USA, Canada, and Mexico
• Interact with the customer, carrier and customs broker regarding shipment booking, pricing, documentation and quoting
• Assist in new customer implementations
• Prioritize time sensitive situations
• Collaborate with other operations supervisors to execute shipments and deliver excellent customer service and on-time delivery
• Ensure customer and department SOP's and KPIs are adhered to and met
• Provide relevant current knowledge of routing, packaging, legislation, and other factors that could impact freight movement.
• Handle rate negotiations with carriers on a spot rate basis
• Analyze process data and work on continuous improvements
• Identifying cost savings opportunities for the customer
• Other projects as assigned by the manager

Qualifications:

• 2 years of experience in international logistics or international freight forwarding industry with demonstrated experience moving North American import/export shipments.
• Basic knowledge of domestic and international transportation regulations, policies and procedures required.
• Bachelor's degree preferred but not required
• Bilingual in French and/or Spanish preferred but not required
• Experience using MercuryGate TMS preferred but not required
• Must have strong attention to detail and effective communications skills
• Ability to manage shipment profit/loss
• Must be skilled in Problem Solving / Process Improvement.
• Ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritize time sensitive situations
• Computer skills including Microsoft Excel and Outlook required,
• Ability to develop and maintain professional working relationships with customers as well as Penske personnel
• Regular, predictable, full attendance is an essential function of the job
• Willingness to travel as necessary, work the required schedule, work at the specific location required, complete Penske employment application, submit to a background investigation (to include past employment, education, and criminal history) and drug screening
