The purpose of this position is to manage the raw material purchasing and inventory control functions. This role is accountable for sourcing and acquiring quality raw materials at the lowest price possible in order to improve MGK’s gross margins. The Materials Manager role assists with production scheduling on all material issues to meet forecast and customer sales orders’ needs focused on minimal back-order situations.
Partners with production planning to ensure materials are available to meet forecast and sales order demands whereby minimizing back-order situations
Analyzes material requirements using MPS/MRP systems. Manages the overall procurement process as required to meet forecasted demands based on EOQ standards, as well as in support of inter-departmental procurement needs.
Partners with vendors to make sure quality, pricing and delivery is maintained on a high level to meet production requirements.
Ensures proactive inventory management with emphasis on promoting healthy inventory turns through review of overall material dynamics and in line with organizational targets and objectives.
Partners with the Inventory Specialist to maintain and execute upon inventory strategies to manage inventory and control excess.
Leads the efforts in managing imports and clearing shipments, deals directly with EPA and Customs broker to resolve any issues in a timely manner.
Completes other duties as assigned by management.
Bachelor’s degree required with 5+ years experience in supply chain materials management
Experience with lean thinking or other continuous improvement methodologies
Proficient in the use of MS Office (Word, Excel, Powerpoint, Outlook).
Knowledge in ERP setup system modules.
