The General Manager will have overall responsibility for a single large strategic customer with multiple locations encompassing a broad geographic area. Primary objective is to ensure each location is operating efficiently based on Penske's contractual commitments while ensuring strong business relationships and confidence are established and maintained. Build account stability and customer satisfaction by driving continuous improvement opportunities, operational excellence, technology and data analytics strategies and customer satisfaction. Pursue vertical growth opportunities through both local customer interaction and engagement with our Enterprise Account Manager fostering new services where we can provide value.
Provides opportunities for associates to work on meaningful projects to increase knowledge sharing and development
Interview and hire salaried associates up to Manager Customer Operations level
Develop, mentor, and promote strong performers at all levels of operations
Ensure we continue to develop our bench strength and promote positive movement through tactical and strategic means
Attending frequent customer calls and interaction with multiple groups (Premium, Purchasing, Operations/plants, cariers)

â€¢ Ensure all operations are optimally staffed and organized to maximize performance and service delivery
Ensure our teams are utilizing the technology available to them in the most efficient manner to improve and enhance our service
Embrace and lead quality improvements utilizing our PQS (Penske Quality Systems) principles
â€¢ Manages P&L & revenue growth for multiple regions or territories
â€¢ Identifies synergies among all the locations to drive productivity and to implement best practice
â€¢ Works with the managers to develop and implement business plans to improve financial performance year over year
â€¢ Negotiates with customers for rate increases, scope changes, etc.
â€¢ Instill in the operations leadership team and associates that safe performance is a critical element required to achieve success and is a recognized indicator of individual and team effectiveness
â€¢ Ensure compliance with all applicable regulatory agencies and company policies and procedures
Growth / Customer Experience:
â€¢ Understand the competitive landscape of the customer's business across the globe and align resources to develop a solution
â€¢ Work with leadership and the Enterprise Account Manager to develop and maintain the strategic growth plan for the customer
â€¢ Establish and maintain relationships with key decision makers at multiple levels within the customer's organization
Work with managers and the Enterprise Account Manager to lead VOCs along with action plans to address open issues and enhance performance
â€¢ Other projects and tasks as assigned by the Vice President
â€¢ 8 - 10 years related logistics experience required
â€¢ 5 - 8 years managerial experience, including P&L responsibility required
â€¢ Bachelor's degree in Business or Supply Chain Management required
â€¢ Master's or advanced degree preferred.
â€¢ Customer Relationship management required
â€¢ Project Management preferred
Strong understanding of engineering and strategic tools (supply chain modeling, routing, transportation management systems/warehouse management/yard management), plant-based operations and data analytics required
â€¢ IT awareness and a drive to seek and educate oneself on the everchanging market
â€¢ Multi-level presentation & communication skills (internally and externally) required
â€¢ Strong Financial Experience and Problem Solving / Process Improvement skills required
Be able to facilitate and drive change management
â€¢ Regular, predictable, full attendance is an essential function of the job
