DAY SHIFT :
Penske DC Safety Supervisor manages and directs all safety programs in the DC, which includes all new hire safety training, as well as annual refresher training. The position is also responsible for ensuring injury related investigations. Other responsibilities include guidance to the DC Leadership team regarding OSHA, EPA, and other regulatory compliance. Safety facility inspections are conducted by the position to identify unsafe circumstances and behaviors.
-Training, including new hire training, powered industrial equipment training, post injury retraining, annual refresher and regulatory compliance training,) Investigations (accident/injury investigations).
-Facilitates injury re-enactments with a focus on uncovering root cause.
-Facilitates and monitors site specific action plans that address most common injury types and causes through injury trend analysis. Goal is to reduce injury frequency rates in each DC.
-Provides safety assistance to Regions serviced by their DC when needed
-Completes Facility Inspection surveys and inspects all safety within the DC.
-Spends active time on floor conducting hazard identification.
-Spearheads project analyses - Developing, testing, and evaluating projects in safety are continual requirements of the DC Safety Supervisor position.
-Manages property protection program - facility system(s) management i.e. fire alarm system, and fire prevention (pump, and sprinkler maintenance)-Training, including new hire training, powered industrial equipment training, post injury retraining, annual refresher and regulatory compliance training,) Investigations (accident/injury investigations).
-Associate's degree (two-year program) or equivalent formal training program preferred
-One or more years experience in Occupational Health and Safety
-Strong interpersonal and presentation skills
-4 - 6 years related functional experience.
-3 years managerial or supervisory experience with supervising warehouse associates in distribution center management required
-High School degree or equivalent required
-Bachelor's Degree in Business or Supply Chain Management preferred
-Proficiency with computers including Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint required
-Must have ability to connect and build rapport and relationships with associates and external customers at all levels
-Must have ability to work efficiently with time management and organizational skills with follow-up and follow through
-Ability to manage through a problem and think and make decisions independently
-Demonstrated ability to develop and execute annual financial operating plan
-Ability to drive process improvement and lead change
-Must demonstrate ownership & responsibility for running the operation with a sense of urgency
-Strong written/oral communication including the ability to present in front of others, and demonstrate active listening skills are required
-Regular, predictable, full attendance is an essential function of the job
-Willingness to travel as necessary, work the required schedule, work at the specific location required, complete Penske employment application, submit to a background investigation (to include past employment, education, and criminal history) and drug screening required.
