Penske Logistics is looking for a Senior Operations Supervisor to become part of an excellent team. This position will provide operational leadership to individual contributors across multiple locations to ensure the execution of daily tasks and activities in a manner consistent with company services and cost objectives. Responsible for all on-site operational activity by load planners including order entry, load planning, load scheduling and load monitoring. Actively involved in the hiring process as well as customer interactions. Frequent travel to multiple locations as necessary is a requirement of this position.
Lead team of salaried employees (includes: performance review, corrective action, and goal setting)
Provide detailed instruction to various personnel
Act as first level escalation for customer inquires
Ensure the bulk scheduling activities at each location are covered and working in accordance with customer expectations
Participate in customer meetings both on-site at plants and at corporate offices as required
Assist in new customer on-boarding and implementations
Prioritize time sensitive situations
Work with team in scheduling deliveries to receivers and providing excellent customer service
Ensuring customerâ€™s KPIâ€™s are hit on a daily and weekly basis
Handle rate negotiations with carriers on a spot rate basis when escalated
Analyze process data and work on continuous improvements
Identifying cost savings opportunities for the customer
Ensuring all business needs are covered including when there are vacations, illness, etc.
Ensure day-to-day management and associate activities are in alignment with the location safety strategy, Provide associates with communication, training, feedback, and direction to ensure safe performance, Ensure compliance with all applicable regulatory agencies and company policies and procedures.
Growth / Customer Experience:
Understand the location-specific customer goals & objectives, Ensure the customer knows that we are committed to helping them meet their objectives, Determine areas that could benefit from Continuous Improvement efforts.
2 - 5 years of experience in the logistics / supply chain industry
Bachelorâ€™s degree strongly preferred
Previous experience in a supervisory role
JDA Transportation Management System and/or SAP experience preferred
Must have strong attention to detail and effective communications skills
Strong customer focus
Must be skilled in Problem Solving / Process Improvement.
Ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritize time sensitive situations
Advanced desktop computer skills including Microsoft Excel and Outlook required
Must be able to learn and regularly operate various computer systems across different platforms
Ability to lead and develop team of salaried associates
Ability to develop and maintain professional working relationships with customers as well as Penske personnel
Team player with flexibility in working different shifts occasionally to accommodate your team / customer
Regular, predictable, full attendance is an essential function of the job
