Manage the planning, procurement, storage, control, and distribution of materials and products. Provide support to production scheduling on all material flow issues to meet production schedules and customer requirements. Interface with product line coordinators on the planning and forecasting of customer orders to meet shipments. Ensure that project/department milestones/goals are met and adhere to approved budgets.
Duties and Responsibilities
Maintain optimum inventory levels to ensure on-time delivery of materials and products meeting customer requirements.
Manage transportation and storage cost; minimize carrying costs and premium transportation charges.
Establish, monitor, and maintain policies and procedures for the management of purchased materials; continuously evaluate and refine standards of practice and processes to seek efficiencies and improve operations.
Establish and maintain procedures and processes for valuing the year-end physical inventory; ensure the highest degree of inventory accuracy through monitoring the maintenance of the perpetual inventory system.
Manages the write-off of obsolescent and damaged inventory; ensure a realistic valuation of goods-on-hand.
Manage and ensure proper production control planning and scheduling program to meet sales forecasts.
Coordinate with the appropriate department to schedule delivery of materials, supplies, equipment, and/or services; investigate and resolve problems.
Manage and maintain systems and databases in support of the Materials Management function.
Manage and maintain effective business relationships with suppliers; address and resolve supplier issues and ensure the on-time delivery of high quality materials.
Manage the shipping, receiving, and storage of materials and products.
Maintain an up-to-date knowledge base of trends and regulatory changes which impact the sourcing and distribution of materials.
Partner with sales team and customer contact regarding the release and delivery of inventory.
Coordinate with the Purchasing Team and as appropriate participate in the evaluation of and negotiation with suppliers; may function as a Purchasing Agent or Buyer when deemed appropriate.
Manage the activities of the assigned team. Provide leadership, coaching, direction and growth opportunities to members of the department, performing those responsibilities in accordance with the established policies. Responsible for interviewing, hiring, planning, assigning or directing work, appraising performance, disciplining team members and resolving problems.

Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Supply Chain Management, Finance, or related field of study.
Five (5) years of materials management or purchasing/procurement experience. Applicable experience within the consumer products manufacturing industry is preferred.
Licensure / Certification(s):
Certified Production and Inventory Manager (CPIM), Certified Supply Chain Professional (CSCP), and/or Certified Procurement and Supply Operations (APICS) are preferred.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Knowledge of writing supplier agreements/contracts.
Strong knowledge of the Materials Management function within a manufacturing environment.
Knowledge of Just-in-Time (JIT) and Lean Management principles.
Knowledge of negotiation tactics and the ability to negotiate both reasonable and favorable contract terms for the Company.
Proficiency using procurement/purchasing software solutions and Enterprise Resource Planning solutions (i.e., IBP/SAP, RS/GP).
Leadership skills and the ability to effectively inspire others.
Interpersonal skills and the ability to build and maintain professional relationships with persons at varying levels within and outside the Company.
Good organizational skills with the ability to maintain information in a logical and easily understood fashion.
Good planning skills and the ability apply forethought in decision making.
Ability to lead and motivate a team of direct reports in pursuit of a common goal.
Ability to maintain regular and predictable attendance.
