Join a world-class organization with a winning culture. In this fast-pace role the Associate Buyer will be responsible for:
Generating purchase orders and forwarding to appropriate suppliers.
Negotiating spot pricing and product availability
Sourcing and qualifying alternate suppliers around the globe for new and existing products
Learning and understanding the market conditions to be able to report in to the team.
Generating supplier non-conformance reports and corrective actions through completion.
Monitoring the status of PO’s with suppliers. Communicating updates with internal customers.
Daily inventory reviews as they relate replenishing and meeting safety stock min/max levels.
Maintaining and updating supplier and product information in Food Source (MRP).
Maintaining supplier’s documentation relating to specifications, certifications and any other required documentation
Providing back up and other duties within the purchasing department.
Approving domestic invoice payments
Handles Purchase Order Adjustments due price, weight, quality, and/or packaging discrepancies
An Associates of Arts degree with 10+ years’ job-related experience or a Baccalaureate (BA or BS) degree with a Minimum of 5 years of job-related experience.
Working knowledge of PC based desktop computers.
Working knowledge of MRP or ERP systems
Working knowledge of MS Word, Excel and Outlook.
Ability to work in high pace environment
Ability to plan, organize, prioritize, multi-task, and use time effectively.
Ability to work across different departments, i.e. production, receiving, customer service, sales; and suppliers
Ability to work independently to solve problems, use good business judgment, take initiative
Experience in seafood and/or food industry desirable, e.g., perishables, such as produce, bakery, etc.)
Familiarity of inbound freight transactions and terminology
Knowledge of Spanish useful.
