The Director of Business Development will oversee all 3PL sales, customer relations and pricing activities to achieve double-digit growth targets and maximize all opportunities for profit generation including related and emerging opportunities such as DTC business. The position will work in a dynamic environment managing a diversified customer base.
Implement strategies to drive 3PL revenue while constantly monitoring 3PL market pricing and ensuring contract pricing is reviewed on-going.
Develop and execute a strategy for new relationship revenue growth leading to additional business as well as long term sustainable success with current and future accounts
Negotiate new and ongoing contracts with suppliers and customers. Review contracts and make recommendations on improving profitability.
Carry out risk assessment when taking on new customer accounts.
Continuous follow up with production and operations staff to monitor programs making recommendations or trouble shooting as necessary
Interpret market trends and adapt to industry changes.
Establish the lead generation processes implementing new sales strategies to ensure Gordon’s follows industry best practice.
Develop and deliver the company plan alongside the executive team to handle a variety of projects for the business and oversee project management.
Have an ability to manage a sales pipeline of prospects and multiple business development proposals and alliances.
Other relevant background
Success in selling 3PL services to companies in the Alcoholic Beverage industry in the Metropolitan NY/NJ area
Diversified experience in freight forwarding and warehousing
BA/BS in business or other related fields
Demonstrated independent self-starter with the ability to thrive in a team environment
10 years prior proven sales acumen with work experience in 3PL sales in food grade products in the Northern New Jersey Market
Strong relationship development and maintenance Skills
A strong understanding of all modes of transportation including international container movement from the ports.
Understanding Managerial Finance
Proven record of strong customer relations
Strong entrepreneurial skills and a natural ability to spot opportunities for revenue generation
Excellent presentation skills, verbal and written
Some travel may be required
